'Lavender' sunset
Apr. 16th, 2010 11:16 pmWell they did promise us spectacular sunsets - courtesy of Iceland's newest export - but it was just hype!
I waited tonight on London Bridge and this is what I saw:

(the building on the left is where I work)
(as you can just see in this picture, the moon is a tiny sliver so no chance of a big, purple moon tonight either)

Still, it's always pleasant to spend some time by the river and to stop and look at London every one and then, instead of just rushing through it.

A colourful day
Feb. 10th, 2010 11:44 pmIt's been a strange day weather-wise.
Beautiful colours this morning
followed by a very short blizzard: wind and frozen rain.
This afternoon it was sunny and windy (with icy storms blowing over parts of the city) and we enjoyed quite a beautiful sunset

Ricardo (
bazanges ) has - alas! - returned home. We really enjoyed his visit: he's such a laugh and a dearest friend.
This evening I met Adrian (
london1952 ) at Fortnum & Mason's before heading to Compton's on Old Compton Street where we had arranged to meet Tony and Malcolm:

We went for a Thai meal followed by a hot chocolate in Patisserie Valerie. It was a lovely evening: they are such a charming couple!
When we got home, the street and gardens looked as if they had been sprinkled with icing sugar.

It's been a very busy week. I should be working this week-end but my friend Franco is visiting from Italy for a few days.
Friends come before work: I think I have got my priorities right! LOL!
The weather has been exceptionally grey all week long except for yesterday when we saw the sun again.
I took a couple of pictures of the sunset from my desk
On Easter Sunday, we kissed Jean goosbye and then drove down from Annecy to Orange and Avignon where the sun was shining (mostly).
In Orange we marvelled at the amazing Roman theatre:
( Click here for the pictures )
and in Villeneuve-Lez-Avignon enjoyed a beautiful sunset by the castle, overlooking the city across the Rhone:

Florida Sunsets
Mar. 5th, 2007 11:04 pmI took loads of pictures in Florida and am going to post some on here (reduced in size of course) over the new few days.
I'll do it by subject starting from the gorgeous sunsets.
The first 3 are from Crystal Beach, north-west of Tampa (Barbara drove us there to watch the sunset)

but the most spectacular sunset was down in Key West.
We watched the sunset from Mallory Square: it was rather crowded and there were lots of performers. The one nearest to us sang "Island in the sun" just as it was setting.... very romantic: a special holiday memory we'll cherish!
