An evening with...
Nov. 25th, 2009 03:59 pmMartin and Utku: our two lovely neighbours and friends invited us over for dinner. It was a lovely night with great food and conversation.
One of the highlights was when Utku, after dinner, asked us to guess what that vintage greeting card on the shelf was.
It showed a boy sat in a throne-like chair holding in his hand something that reminded me of the Star Trek's Enterprise.
It wasn't a spaceship but a cutting instrument.
It was a card for his circumcision party in Turkey that he had, following Muslim tradition, when he was a child.
And then he explained that his foreskin, washed and disinfected, had been added to a pilaf dish served at the party that followed the operation. Whoever found it in their plate got a prize!
No, we didn't have risotto last night!
Julie Andrews: She'll be in London for a one-night-only-don't-miss-it-or-you'll-never-see-her-again-and-you'll-be-regretting-forever show in May.
Tickets went on sale today at 2 pm with prices from £50 to £95 plus booking fee plus transaction fee plus delivery/collection fee.
Sorry Darling I would love to have seen you, but I'd rather go on holiday.
The boys and girls in blue and Lynne: Lynne is picking me up at 6 pm tonight and we're going to the "Safer Bromley Awards". She's been nominated for an award herself for her work with our community. Go Lynne!
And it'll be nice to go out as I have to wait to work from home until Monday when the stitches should come out.
