In the last 5 weeks, I've re-read 7 of the "Tales of the City" books. Only 'Mary Ann in Autumn' remains.
I think it must be the third time I've read the first 6 and, as always, they make me want to visit San Francisco again.

So, as we have enough BA miles (now called Avios) for a return trip to North America for 2, this morning I briefly toyed with the idea of visiting for Easter 2013.

But, although the flights would be free, we would still have to pay £374.19 each in taxes, fees and surcharges!!

When did it get so expensive?

With that amount we can almost get 4 return flights to Europe and, as Adrian put it, we won't have to beg to be let in the country of choice.

So we have now booked with Avios and £27 (in total) a return flight to Bologna for Easter to spend a week in Le Marche, the calf of Italy's boot, where Adrian's never been.

Only a few days before our trip to Sitges, but I am already thinking about getting some precious winter sunshine.
(And this is despite my mother asking me sarcastically if I had won the lottery when I told her of the 2 week-ends away planned for late Sep and late Oct).

There are some offers on BA flights at the moment... I was thinking of flying to San Francisco in February and driving down along the coast to LA, then spend some time in Palm Springs.
Perhaps then Grand Canyon and Vegas, before heading back? Or is it being greedy?

Or should we save the money, because you never know what might happen? (i.e.when my head will be chopped off and I'll be replaced by an Indian?)

Or perhaps go somewhere in the Mare Nostrum?
