We're coming to the end of the 4-day long Easter week-end. Apart from Friday when we had some brilliant sunshine until the early afternoon, it's been grey. Today it's raining too - but we need some wet weather.

We've had company since Wednesday.
First it was Paola, Francesco and the little Adele

visiting from Italy until Saturday morning, and then from Saturday evening the one and only Ricardo (Richard/

bazanges)

With the exception of a walk along the Thames with our Italian friends on Good Friday, we've been very lazy indeed!

Well it's the end of the 4-day Easter week-end for this year too.

I didn't leave Penge for the whole 4 days: I didn't leave home at all on Good Friday, and didn't go out of the estate today; but nevertheless, I had a great time!

Friday was tidying up day.
Saturday was cooking day as we had a few friends (Martin & Utku, and another Martin) round for dinner.

I did most of the cooking and rather enjoyed it as when all our guests arrived, everything was under control and only the main course was left.

Adrian's bread to go with creamy almond and tomato soup.

A new recipe found in a Sicilian cookbook: "Black chicken".
The sauce is made of dark chocolate, onions, fennel seeds, chilli, cloves and vinegar and the chicken marinated in wine for 2 hours.
Wonderful flavour, I must say!

Dessert was boozy zabaglione cups with strawberry, served with walnut shortbread biscuits.

Sunday: a quick trip down to the allotment with Lynne and Miranda, then Easter afternoon tea at Bobby's (cheese scones, homemade hot cross buns, chocolate cake and simnel cake, all very good).

Monday: big dinner at Lynne's!

I've also spent quite a lot time last night and today working on the residents' association's "magazine" and I'm sure it'll require quite a few more hours.
Now if only I didn't have to go to work tomorrow!

It's the end of the 4-day Easter week-end and look what's here!

The sun has decided to make an apparition for the last 3 hours after almost 4 days of grey and wet weather (in which I suffered from SAD - I don't normally do, but I felt rather down in the dumps)

Oh well, better than nothing at all, I guess. But now could we please have some decent weather for our trip to Cardiff next week-end? Thank you. That's all.

On Sunday we are expecting over 20 neighbours and friends for afternoon tea.
