Evening classes
Jun. 29th, 2010 03:58 pmFirst choice would be Mosaics as I have wanted to make one for the garden for ages.
The only college with such classes seems to be City Lit but the courses are on Saturdays and I'd miss a couple of days in October. So I'll have to wait till next year.
City Lit has a large variety of courses, including many 'Personal Development' ones.
I am wondering whether I should go to 'Exploring the meaning of food' which is on the first week-end in October.
It sounds rather interesting and perhaps could cure me of my snacking habits.
What is the course about?
The course will explore the psychological meaning of food and help to gain awareness around eating patterns. We will examine how your approach to food may be influenced by family history and childhood experiences.
What topics will we cover?
Topics covered will include the power of childish desire versus denial, the suppression of emotions through food, the guilt of over-eating and the control of under-eating. We will examine how food might be used to compensate for the absence of intimacy, how it fills the void of loneliness and calm difficult feelings. Using visualisations to identify early memories and making drawings to ground these in the present, you will connect with your past, find compassion for your inner child and understand your ‘here and now’ approach to food.
Or perhaps I should try 'Magic for Performance'?
There is so much to choose from that I might just not pick anything at all!
Talking of courses, I have decided not to renew my First Aid at work qualification.
As I'm already a Fire Marshal (and a Bomb Warden! lol) someone else can do First Aid!
