Yesterday we had a little outing in town.

First we had a bite to eat at a Pret near Horseferry Road

and then went to Tate Britain to see

The exhibition was really good although a bit crowded but we managed to see what we wanted to. (Incidentally, I do wonder why they cannot write the explanatory panels in a larger font, so that people don't have to crowd in front of them to read?)

This was followed by a bit of shopping at Fortnum & Mason's (never seen the upper floors so crowded! mainly with tourists) and a look around Burlington Arcade

It was soon time to go to the Green Carnation, in Soho (Greek Street) for the matinée of 'Snow White and the Seven Poofs', an adult panto

Well what can I say... it was a very coarse affair; not that I was shocked, of course, but a bit disappointed, I expected something better written and more amusing. Swearing just for the sake of it gets rather tedious after a while. At least it made us feel better about our upcoming panto!

Then a short bus and train ride

and we were home!

Just to make me home-sick for London at Christmas time, you post this...! Oh Well. Regarding Snow White, you would have done better to fly to Toronto to see the Snow White Panto here in which the seven dwarfs are played by one actor...a matinee idol who goes by the moniker 007. (So it's Snow White and the OO7...). Adrian looks very jaunty on the train, and F&P very smart. Such a nice outing you had. Welcome home.

The Toronto Snow White panto sounds rather intriguing!

Thank you, Bob.

Wishing you both a very happy 2013!

I can't really get on with the Pre-Raphaelites, but I agree with your suggestion about the bigger fonts at exhibitions. So many in London feel like a scrum rather than an opportunity to appreciate art.

What is the Green Carnation like? I haven't been since it was Element.

I don't like crowds so I go to very few exhibitions.

Green Carnation was quite nice upstairs: it had a Soho-style drinking club feel.
Downstairs there was another bar and the dance floor (I assume) was where the performance took place.
