So we had a few inches of snow (up to 4"/10 cm according to the BBC which calls it "Severe weather in London") and following a well-rehearsed script chaos ensued: "Several Tube lines have been disrupted or suspended", "Heathrow Airport has said only half of Sunday's scheduled flights were likely to leave", etc. etc.

But at least snow is pretty!
I enjoyed waking up this morning (and a few times in the night) to the silence and magical glow that snow always brings.

I swept the drive (I had done it before going bed as well), took a few pictures in the garden

then walked to Penge High Street

and up to Crystal Palace Park, a favourite haunt of mine when I was doing my City & Guild course in photography a few years ago.

I have always loved this avenue of trees:

There was quite a jolly atmosphere in the park. Family making snowmen, having snowball fights and sledging down the slopes.
No sledging for me but, as I was climbing up hill in virgin snow, I lost my footing and slid, face down in the snow. It was quite funny!

Perhaps the animals were not enjoying themselves as much!

I walked around the lake and took some photos of the Victorian dinosaurs.

Escape from Jurassic Park! LOL

A Dalmatian and a snowball in flight:

Mother and daughter

Dante (I believe), one of the very few statues (or part of) left from the old Crystal Palace

and our old friend the Sphynx

Then it was back home and after a couple of hours out again to the YMCA for my swimming lesson, and some practice.

Several of the photos look like vintage post cards ... Thanks for sharing.
