I’m back from the long week-end in Turin at my parents’; on the whole I had a nice time: the weather was glorious and unseasonably warm (yesterday it was 20 ºC, but apparently there’s chance of snow later this week) and had plenty of lovely food.

What wasn’t so good, was waking up on Friday night in pain; the problem was with my little “Percy” and the pain was excruciating.
When I got up in the morning, I had to take the ring out for the first time in 4 years (there was a little blood: a capillary must have been damaged by the ring). I was surprised at how light Percy felt (the ring weighs 40 g); plus urinating became more difficult as I had to keep an eye on two holes!
The irony of course is that all this had to happen when I was at my parents!

I went out for a few hours on Saturday afternoon for a walk in the city centre; Piazza Vittorio Veneto, Turin’s largest square, was taken over by

(more info: here)

On Sunday my brother and I were invited to lunch by my friend Franco and his parents; there was also another couple of friends with their 18 month old baby). It was a huge lunch (about 10 courses).
We also had Baccala’ alla Vicentina with polenta, a traditional Northern Italian dish (despite the name, the recipe uses stoccafisso: air-dried cod).

Yesterday I went out for a ride on my old bicycle in the local park near the river and I spotted a guy sunbathing!
The last day at my parents always goes very slowly because I’m normally counting the hours to be back at home with [personal profile] london1952.

Last night when I got home, I managed to put in a slightly thinner ring but I can tell that Percy is not quite himself and every now and then he is slightly sore.
Perhaps it’s time to go metal free? (But will people still like unadorned little Percy?)
