We landed safely in Toronto on Thu afternoon after a rather pleasant flight. We’re staying with
paulintoronto and
bobalone in their lovely home in the Annex: they are both splendid hosts.
Yesterday we had a superb day! We started by visiting the Financial District: it is so much easier to go around when you have a guide and you don’t need to read your book constantly. Bob showed us the highlights of the district and we loved the architecture. The different shapes, surfaces, reflections are a joy and an inspiration for any photographer. There was even something for animal lovers: cows, elephants, etc.
We had a lunch reservation at 360 the revolving restaurant on the CN tower. Sadly, Paul was working, so it was only the three of us,
The food was great and the views amazing. The restaurant makes a complete rotation every 72 minutes and we were there for at least 2 of them!

Booking a table at 360 makes you skip the long queue to get up the tower; we even spotted Z-list Scottish/Canadian gay celebs Colin and Justin - mainly because they were whizzed through security. And this morning their new column appears in the Toronto Star: they have moved here. I don't think we'll miss them.
Then a quick visit to the observation deck and the glass floor.
We left the tower at 4 pm!
Bob went home and we took the ferry to the islands. They are a small paradise: quaint cottages, nature and eccentric people. Not to mention great views of the Toronto skyline.
It had clouded over by then so seeing the sunset on the ferry back to town was a great suprise!
