Wednesday night reflections

Well I wasn't forced to but who would want to be the person blamed for losing the company half a million US$ in fines for late delivery?
So I worked most of the week-end. On Saturday night after 14 hours I felt rather exhausted.
I think that I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, if for no other reason, because next week I'm off. But at the moment I don't seem to be able to muster my usual enthusiasm for the trip.
I was so stressed that on Tuesday morning I almost didn't mind having to go to the dentist's for root canal treatment. Almost a welcome break from the madness at work.
Of course once I was in the chair it was a different story altogether as even with a couple of injections it was still painful. It was a very long hour.
The Queen's speech to the parliament that was being broadcast on the telly didn't manage to distract me at all.
I don't think that the tooth is quite right at the moment but we'll see if the antibiotics will clear up the infection, and the tenderness of the gum and the occasional throbbing will stop - no point worrying about it too much.
In other news, I came across a picture of myself from our Civil Partnership (it'll be 5 years in April) and I was quite shocked to see how much I aged.
Or perhaps I just look tired these days.
When I was in Torino 2 weeks ago as I was walking toward a bus stop a group of youths of southern descent looked at me and laughed shouting "Che bello!". I realise a bald head, a beard and a big nose are not quite the ticket but I just thought "Really! No respect for the elders these days".
I was about to say that years ago I would have been upset by such an incident but now I don't really give a damn; but it's probably not quite true or I wouldn't have thought about it.
I have also noticed that going around central London I've become more invisible. It's either me or guys don't really make flirtatious eye contact any more. Perhaps it's all downhill from here!
