I am no ornithologist but I really like having birds in the garden. I even forgive them for waking me up with the dawn chorus at around 4 am, now that we keep the bedroom window open.
I haven't see robins for a while now, but there is a lovely groups of dunnocks which remind me of hyper-active children because they are so lively, noisy and never seem to stop anywhere for longer than a few seconds.
Even their bath is a rushed affair
The blackbirds are less playful but enjoy a long beauty routine in the birdbath.
And some like to stay in the same position for a while, making them perfect for photographing.
