It’s (almost) the week-end, at last!

Slow week at work; this week the pompously named “Career Framework Scheme” has started and I was turned into a series of numbers the other day.
I put up a fight as the scheme was meant to be for people who are interested in a career and therefore it shouldn’t have been compulsory.
But it turned out it is: because of the quality certification, and mainly because of the office in India. Apparently it is of vital importance to the Indian staff to have nice titles and grades, or they won’t stay.
We have also been told that their grades will probably be higher than ours, despite their lack of experience, otherwise they may leave. Plus that would work also when it come to redundancies.

On the home front, all is quiet after last week’s excitement.
I’ve been cooking every evening as it was high time we used up the frozen food (this should make our Prime Minister very happy as he’s recently appealed to all citizens not to waste food – the UK doesn’t produce enough food to sustain its population and needs to import it. I wonder whether sooner or later we’ll be forced to convert our flower beds into vegetable patches a-la-Dig for Victory).
It’s been a meat feast: tonight it’ll be saltimbocca.
And tomorrow it’s the residents association’s BBQ (more meat). Let’s hope that it doesn’t rain.

Adrian always says that I “need a project” (to keep me happy/out of trouble?) and he’s right to some degree. I admit that sometimes I get bored quite quickly, but my objects of boredom go through stages. I got bored with sites like eurowoof/etc. a while ago but now I’m back on them, and at the moment I think I am bored with taking pictures and posting them on LJ.
The latest project (or harebrain scheme) is to make a mosaic in the garden on our neighbour’s garage wall. I always wanted to make one and I felt rather inspired by the visit to Aquileia with its wonderful 4th century mosaics. We’ll see.

I searched for pictures of Pride on the net the other night. On a photography discussion forum there were a few but the discussion was more about Pride than the pictures. A number  of the comments started with “I’m not homophobic but..”   and carrying on with saying why it’s OK to be gay as long as the “normal” people don’t’ have to see it, or even worse they were just insults. What  I’d like to say is “I’m not a violent person, but …”

Thank you to all who voted in my "Sleeping positions" poll and commented. Almost everyone seems to be a creature of habit. Just like me. I'm normal!
