We’re in Salem, MA but haven’t finished posting about our last couple of days in Toronto.

On Sunday we visited Spadina House, the family home of a wealthy Torontian family built in 1866; same age as our humble dwelling in London, but much, much bigger.
It was worth visiting for the restored interiors and the garden. In the kitchen “cook” - in period apron - was busy making coconut rings.

After that we went to the Allan Garden to visit the beautiful greenhouses.

We then had a walk around the gay village stopping at Timothy’s for a bite to eat and visited a couple of shops. Not much else was done that day because we got up late.

Paul and Bob had invited a couple of friends over for dinner. We had quite a lot to talk about with Ian and Philip as they had visited London in the summer. The food as always was terrific: Bob is a great cook. For dessert we had pumpkin pie (Paul recalled from LJ that we had never had it before); it was yummy!

Monday was dedicated to a trip to the Niagara Falls. We went on a coach tour because it was the easiest option.
In hindsight perhaps it would have been better if we had gone on the train/coach as we could have spent more time in Niagara Falls instead of having to stop at the local airport to be pressured into buying a helicopter ride (we didn’t - and nobody managed to go anyway because it was too cloudy), and at a rather uninspiring winery. But it’s nice sometimes to shepherded around!
