LJ friends

49 out of my 122 LJ friends haven't posted for 2 weeks or more.

So, I ask you: do you have any new (to me) LJ friends that you think I would enjoy reading?

[identity profile] changeling72.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you checked out the friends of friends list?

Do you have any LJ friends in Italy?

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I have checked it in the past but was after some personal recommendations (i.e. let other people do the work! LOL!)

I have only one LJ friend in Italy: there don't seem to be many around.

[identity profile] changeling72.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It's difficult to know whom to suggest without knowing what sort of people you are interested in.

Who is your Italian friend?

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really know myself... I guess I'm looking for a combination of interesting, amusing, friendly and not too much drama!

It's [livejournal.com profile] pmendogni  but he hasn't posted for a year

I more than often go to the friend list of folks I read, even if they have not posted themselves.

If I see someone who is new to me I read them for a few posts and if they hold my interest I ad them to my favs, but not always friend list. So I can always check up on them when I want.

I have followed many folks in the way.

Do you mean you mark them as favourite in your internet browser?

That's quite a good way to do it.

Re: ...

[identity profile] dorisduke.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, via the internet browser.

If I think I really enjoy someone after reading several of their posts, much like yours, I request or add them as friends to my friends list.

[identity profile] changeling72.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I found some of my friends via you, Franco.

Do you know any other Italian people in London?

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
That's great!

Only a couple but I never see them.

[identity profile] muriel-puce.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you friends with [profile] ranger7ryan? Mutual gardening interests, plus he and his partner are adorable.

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm not. Thank you for the recommendation!

[identity profile] ranger7ryan.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the recommendation and the compliment! I make most of my LJ friends through other LJ friends.

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, thanks for 'friending' me back!

[identity profile] scunnerred.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends what you're looking for but this lovely lot are all brilliant writers: [livejournal.com profile] chiller [livejournal.com profile] dermfitz [livejournal.com profile] nocompromises [livejournal.com profile] petercampbell [livejournal.com profile] ultraruby [livejournal.com profile] djmrswhite

And if you have any to recommend too then by all mean share. I'm in the same boat as you with the lack of posting by half my friends list.

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)

Many thanks your for all the suggestions Niall! I'll look them up.

Let's see... among those that post regularly and are not on your friends' list I'd recommend: [info]arktos62 , [livejournal.com profile] brunorepublic , [livejournal.com profile] changeling72 , [livejournal.com profile] cuboz , [livejournal.com profile] gorkabear , [livejournal.com profile] gryphons_hole , [livejournal.com profile] madknits , [livejournal.com profile] mrdreamjeans , [livejournal.com profile] notdefined , [livejournal.com profile] nzguy1 , [livejournal.com profile] paterson_si , [livejournal.com profile] paulintoronto , [livejournal.com profile] thornyc , [livejournal.com profile] tilia_tomentosa ,

Finding LJ Friends.

[identity profile] pink-halen.livejournal.com 2010-07-29 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a real problem. I've added more and more people as the years go by because many have just stopped posting. I'm anxious to see how many will disappear when they start purge LJ.

I pickup a few new ones from running the friends of friends features. Sometimes though it is fun to go to someone's friends list directly to check out new LJer.

I am saddened by those who have made there journals "Friends Only." It makes it difficult to find new friends. For that reason, I try to provide content that is both open and "friends Only." It makes it easier when someone like you starts looking for friends.

The one limit I have is that I usually don't friend people who only repost twitter stuff. I used to avoid people who only did quizzes and memes but most of those have migrated to Farcebook.

I am confident that I am among your 49 posters.

I can recommend [livejournal.com profile] joncub, [livejournal.com profile] putzmeisterbear, [livejournal.com profile] notsogreynomad and lj user="shelbycub">

Joncub is an American living the the Australian Outback.
Putzmeisterbear is Fogbear's partner in San Francisco.
Not so Grey nomad is Shelly who is traveling Australia with her husband in a caravan.
Shelbycub is a comedian and story teller.

What, you don't have enough LJ! I have discovered that I have too much to read lately, and I don't want to "defriend" anyone. :( If I only miss one day, it's already difficult to catch up. And alas, the other Bulgarians are on Facebook!

Maybe it's just summer break time? (And I'm guilty of being almost away from LJ for at least three weeks myself this summer - just posting and running now and then, because I had too many other things going on at once).

I guess you've already got enough suggestions, but I'm wondering if you would like [livejournal.com profile] badgerpdx (although most of his journal seems to be friends-only lately). He is a gardener, by the way... a professional landscape designer. And I like his sense of humour.

You could try [livejournal.com profile] omero_hassan too.

[identity profile] london1967.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 09:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well I confess that sometimes I don't really read everything! It's more 'pick and mix' for me!

You are probably right about people being away on holiday.

And many thanks for the recommendations, Darina!

[identity profile] tilia-tomentosa.livejournal.com 2010-07-31 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not that I manage to read everything myself... (and some of it is mostly photos to look at but still... sometimes I even get too many photos to appreciate properly). The problem is figuring out what is really important to read BEFORE I've read the whole post.

It is somehow much easier on Facebook.... I just look at my news feed, and know what is worth reading/looking at/listening to. But Facebook isn't such a personal place for me and the people I communicate with there... it's more about exchanging information and ideas, brief updates of current events in people's lives and occasionally sharing some favourite music videos (and thankfully, half of it is in my native language, so I can read it faster than in English or Russian). And I can afford to post links to Bulgarian articles or videos there without translating them into English.
