Sweet temptations

I have just had lunch and, on top of that, had a couple of M&S Chocolate Chunk cookies so I can safely post about this, without abandoning my desk and rushing out to Sainsbury's to buy a jar.

I've been obsessing thinking about Nutella since reading a comment on [livejournal.com profile] brunorepublic 's journal the other day.

What is that makes this hazelnut and chocolate spread so alluring to me?

it's nostalgia, I think.

We were born in the same corner of Italy (Nutella is 3 years older but has fewer lines and wrinkles) and Nutella takes me right back to my childhood, to a time of innocence when I didn't know anything about what foods were good or bad for you.
I used to eat it by the spoonful (and I could still do it today!)

'Pane e nutella' (or being a Torinese, 'grissini e nutella' was just the perfect snack or merenda)

Nutella is part of the collective consciousness of many Italians: it even appears in Nanni Moretti's film "Bianca"

I wonder: is Nutella even better than sex?

About Nutella…

From Nutella's US website:

Ingredients: sugar, modified palm oil, hazelnuts, cocoa, skim milk, reduced minerals whey (from milk), soy lecithin: an emulsifier, vanillin: an artificial flavor.

As the Diesel ads say: use with caution.

Oh yes, all the yummy things are not good for you!
