"Staycation" - day 5

We started the day at Tate Britain where we went to see "Rube Britannia" (British comic art/satire from the 18th century onwards) which was excellent.

From there we caught a boat that connects the two Tate galleries to go and see another exhibition at Tate Modern

We enjoyed this a lot too.

Then we crossed the Millennium Bridge to St. Paul's

where we had a spot of lunch

(here a greedy and cheeky pigeon is polishing off the crumbs)

The afternoon was spent wandering around the City of London looking for gardens: I printed an itinerary from the London Garden Trust website that explores 16 small gardens (it was excellent with great directions: it's easy to get lost in the City).

A couple of the gardens are quite sizeable (Finsbury Circus, The Barbican) but most are just corners hidden away between office blocks.

Some great surprises too: from gardens that contain stretches of London's Roman Wall to ones built where churches destroyed in the war used to stand.

These gardens are popular with City workers and... lovers too.

It seems indeed that love even has an official address!

We stopped for a cuppa at the Barbican

and ended up travelling home in the rush hour with a very long journey due to problems on a line.
Well I guess that I'll have to get used to that again from Monday!

Yum, those cakes look good! I'd like to see Rude Britannia, I believe Harry Hill had a hand in putting it together. Another excellent set of pictures. And I love Love Lane.

Yes he supervised one of the rooms (I think the 'Absurd' one).

And thank you! :-)

Such fun, such cute guys, such a great city.

Although I do not get modern art, I enjoy the Tate Modern.

Thanks very much!
Yes there's always so much to see even when you have lived here for a number of years!

I know what you mean about modern art. I am OK with it in small doses!

The next street from where I live is Carrer dels Enamorats which means "Street of the Lovers".

Thank you anyway!
Maybe next time, if you're still in London!
