Hey (St.) Jude!
Oct. 27th, 2013 06:40 pmFinally this week-end a very lazy dahlia decided to bloom!

It's such a shame that it won't last long as it's almost time to plant the bulbs and the first frost is not far away.
I'm sure some of the dahlias are going to take a battering tonight and tomorrow.
We're expecting a storm coming from the Atlantic: they say it's going to be the worst for a number of years with winds of 80 mph. It has been named Jude after St. Jude the patron saint of lost causes whose feast day is tomorrow.
(The story - I believe - is that St. Jude is often mistaken for his fellow apostle Judas Iscariot and therefore not many will pray for his intercession. Only when you have tried everyone else, then people will turn to St. Jude).
The trains tomorrow morning won't be running before 9 am at the earliest to give time to clear fallen trees and other debris off the tracks. I think I'll try the 176 bus to get into town - with the clocks having gone back last night, at least it will be a bit brighter in the morning.
Fingers crossed that we'll still have the roof and the chimney stacks standing or getting into work will be the last of my/our problems!
