At the week-end my friend Franco was visiting from Italy.
He went around London on his own as A) he's been many, many times and he likes doing his own things B) I was tired and it was below zero, and I go around London every weekday!

But yesterday Adrian and I ventured out in the afternoon to Kensington Palace

where we had a lovely afternoon tea at the Orangery with Franco

All very nice but naughty too (my 'Enchanted Palace' chocolate afternoon tea came with Ceylon tea flavoured with chocolate chips)

It's quite remarkable how little changes in one's circumstances may provide new points of view.

For instance being at home sick (with nothing major) for a week would have felt rather appealing only last week; now I'm on day 4 and I'm going stir crazy!

Also the repeated occurrence of a walking stick sliding gradually towards the floor and hitting it with a loud bang would have irritated me and made me mentally say "For Goodness' sake, cannot you just put it somewhere where it stays up?".
Well I've discovered it is not easy to find that place and that these implements are a rather tiresome variety of sticks with a mind of their own!

I spent the afternoon in Stepford, CT watching the original "The Stepford wives" and stuffing my face with marron glaces that my friend Franco brought last night from Italy (he's visting for a few days as he does every year - but this week-end no sightseeing for me).
